HUNTER THOMPSON SHALL LIVE ON IN OUR HEARTS AND MINDS......

    Gonzo Revisited

    FEAR never.
    Paranoid yes.
    Enhanced through countless chemical dreams.
    Silent duress.
    Tortured screams.
Always related to what lie fell from Nixon's mouth.

    LOATHING.
    Why?
    A chosen learned friend.
    Mouthpiece for democracy.
Thwarted those bureaucratic demons attempting to diminish our sacred freedoms.

That individual right to choose our own formal discharge.
Even by the hot lead injection of a well placed .45
You endowed us with opinionated privileges.
Encouraging political irreverence at every corner.

You, a substance dependant, free willed, free radical.
Supply our hunger, a need for disheveled clarity, well.
Believing inject-able dreams reveal simple truth.
    Never go straight only forward.......

Uncovering ordered sanity from insane minds.
Those clarified blind men commanding every path towards war.
All the while our returning warriors feel disdain.
    You redeemer.
Drive those shadow masters into the light of day.
No longer shall their undermining contrive.
Our anti-establishment voices from crying foul.

    Every notation.
    Every revelation.
Directed to the lack of government.
    FOR THE PEOPLE.
    BY THE PEOPLE.
    SHALL NEVER DIE........

Shame brought on by continuous disgrace.
    By those fearful leaders.
Welded that last fateful decision into your haze filled mind.
    Finally succumbing to disappointment.
    No longer willing to live.

    Farewell freedom fighter.
Lover of truth, justice and the long haired way.......

I enjoyed this. You managed to pay tribute to someone by sounding just as crazy as them on paper. Good write. Have you checked out the documentary on him titled "Gonzo"?

Thanks my dear glad you liked my tribute to Hunter Thompson

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
