Poem Commentary

i was standing on my deck above my backyard and the sun was fast disappearing into someone else's today. i am a little sad as i feel fall approaching but, i love fall, too. so it's a win, win thing :) this is just my send off poem to my favourite season.

goodnight, summer night

<>

goodnight, summer night
goodnight to flips flops
and standing on rooftops to view your stars
goodnight, summer night
hello to warm sweaters
and love letters by the fire
goodnight, summer night
thanks for your life afoot and prior
and the wink you will throw me
when snow is above and below me
this winter.

goodnight,
sweet, sweet summer night

So true. I think that everyone loves poetry, just some more than others.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
