Gracious Victory

When all that has been hoped for
Is stripped away with our trust
We are left with one question
Why must it rain on the just

How can the world keep going
While those who grieve the Lord's heart
Go seemingly unpunished
While our own lives fall apart

But as we hold on to faith
We know that we will not fall
For though we have afflictions
The Lord delivers us all

For as the magnolia
In it's pleasant glow of white
Would not be able to thrive
Without rain to aid the light

And with the coming of dawn
The fragrant smell of the dew
Gives a new outlook upon
The storm that we just went through

And with each passing new day
His grace gives to us the key
To say in every battle
We will have the victory

This poem was written for a woman who lost both or her babies at birth. This one was written for the girl whose name was Victoria Grace. They planted a magnolia tree in a butterfly garden to remind them or her.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
