Poem Commentary

I wrote about 90% of the finished lyrics, but Shannon helped anchor me through the song and it ended up being a very collaborative work (she sings most of it). It's about the person on the OTHER side of unrequited love.

Half A Harmony (ft. Shannon W.)

I see you through the window; you see inside of me
Clear as the sky the look you release
I catch your morning whispers, they have no use to me
Of the quiet life you buried in the wake of passion's greed

Softly we are shedding
The distance that relieves
In your mind a blessing
That's terrifying me

Hope, hold on, keep your hands at bay
No more nights in distant shroud that feasted on today
Once you had me guessing, now I do believe
That one day you will leap in faith
And paralyze with grief

(The thought is agony)

You see me in your doorway; your face looks so relieved
Haunted are my thoughts, they race with no release
This sun has cooled to winter, that strangles with it's breeze
Hoping just to find a chance; to fracture your once-hoped-romance

Now that we have parted
Your feelings still remain
Lying in bruised apathy
Your look of solitude

Hope, hold on, keep your hands at bay
No more nights in distant shroud that feasted on today
Once you had me guessing, now I do believe
That one day you will leap in faith
And paralyze with grief

As you saw me leaving, departing from your glance
Now you slowly realize
Now the tears can coat your eyes

Hope, hold on, keep your hands at bay
No more nights in distant shroud that feasted on today
Once you had me guessing, now I do believe
That one day you will leap in faith
And paralyze with grief

wow, bravo ! "The one day you will leap in faith And paralyze with grief...." simply stunning in execution. i adore this, your flow is impecable. a joy to read.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
