    Happy Birthday

    Today's your twenty-third birthday
and I wish that I were with you,
bit it's okay because I know you know
how much I really miss you.
We've had our share of fighting,
but when things were at their worst,
    it was you I ran to talk to;
it was you I needed first.
When the boys would laugh and make me cry
with the hurtful things they'd say,
you'd hug me and you'd say to me,
    "You don't need them anyway."
I wont forget the things you've done
that have helped me through the years.
I wont forget the times we've laughed
or the times we've shed our tears.
So I may not be there with you
    to celebrate this day,
but you're in my heart and on my mind
and I wish you a Happy Birthday.

This is very nice. Was is also written for your daughter?

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
