Have You Ever Seen A Pretty Girl Cry

Poem Commentary

as i sat in the child support office and waited to be called on. a female across the room caught my attention. as i stared, i saw that she was hurting. as i continued to stare...i began to see her pain...

Have You Ever Seen A Pretty Girl Cry

have you ever seen a pretty girl cry
and seen the look in her eyes
or seen the tears
mad from frustration and fear
the extent of her damage inside

showing this pain that she tries so hard to hide
your eyes seeing both beauty and despair
her confused feelings you view so clear
from first glance and as you stare

her face still and quiet
her pain captured and framed
now an art display depicting sadness
observed in this modern museum
in this place we call life
on this face i saw cry

I definately feel for this poem. There are so many reasons why women cry, and you capture a few wonderfully. Your structure is something, tho. I like it (: its not what alot of poets would call "real poetry", and I applaude it.

thanks for reading and thanks even more for the compliments. i was never taught how to write poetry...just started writing so i have no idea how the structure should be put together but im glad that you applaude it. thanx.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
