He May Just Get His Wish

He May Just Get His Wish

She slams the door and locks it...
Collapsing against the door,
She grabs the blade,
Slides it slowly down her wrist,
Crying hot, angry tears,
She can't handle it anymore,
The pain, the abuse, the screaming.
He screams... I hate you.
You're worthless...
You were a mistake!
I wish you'd die!
Tonight he may just get his wish...
The blood from her face and from her wrists drip on the floor...
She watches her blood from puddles... bigger and bigger...
She flares at the pain as she slides the blade down her wrist again...
I'm still alive... I still feel it...
She screams, Dear God... Take me away from this hell!
I can't live like this anymore!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
