    He Tried

We've always had our up's and downs,
Though our past was rough and hard to heal.
I've moved around from town to town,
Never wanting to except whats real.
His hurt the family more then he understood,
Now he realizes what he's done.
In the past year he did the best he could,
To help me along while I raise my son.
He's gone from this world now to soon for me,
And I prey I'm half the man he wanted to be.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
