    Her

    If you knew her kiss
in the way that I knew,
you’d never want to lose the embrace
    that only we can do.
If you felt her heart beat
as I have against my cheek,
you’d want to always have that warmth
    and for another never seek.
If you looked into her eyes
as I so often have done,
    you’d see the wonderful soul
shining out with the brightness of the sun.
If you felt the love from her
that I am so lucky to feel,
    you’d close your eyes
and let the wounds of your heart forever heal.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
