    Poem Commentary

    Half of this was written about 5 yrs ago. The rest I came up with this morning as I was typing and entering this new poem (to me a song, to you a poem) and adding it to my list of writings. I think it has potential, it's not my best but it's not my worst. I think this leaves room for molding and improvement... But what do you think?

    Hesitate

     Wait for you... To do what?
    To say what you've forgot

    What to do... I ask how?
    When later comes will you feel like now?

    Tame the night... Enchained
    Keeping silent but what's been gained?

    Inner fight... Of heart and soul
    Which to follow in the cold?

    You said to wait, to hesitate
    But if you wait then it's up to fate
    You said to wait, to hesitate
    Before you know it, it's too late
    ~~~~~

    You knew my heart... And knew it true
    You felt it beat just for you

    You'd look at me... And lie so well
    This thing called love is an evil spell

    Too blind to see... Too deaf to hear
    But looking back it's all too clear

    It's colder now... But I'm still alive
    I'll fight the cold until warmth arrives

    Oh this is great Matt! I can almost hear a sort of hushed chanting for the italicized parts as I read it. I agree with Lisa it was like a ballad style song, and a very good one. Your flow and sound was just right. I can envision the encounters between the two persons in this, and feel their emotions. Your so good at painting the picture with your words. Well done Matt..

    Very lovely- it will make a wonderful song. When I read this, I hear a ballad. So I'm curious. Will this be a ballad, or will it have a faster tempo?

    Thank you. You know... I never thought of it as a ballad, but that's a great idea. The tempo that first came to me was a bit quicker but not fast. Thanks for the comment and idea!

    Thank you. Sometimes I can tap into emotions that I myself am not feeling at the moment. If I have an idea for a writing, mostly song lyrics, the idea gives me the emotion. I can be as happy as ever yet at the same time write something dark or sad. It's kinda weird, but true. Keep smilin' kiddo.

    Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
