Poem Commentary

My own little ode to Highgate cemetery, a place I've always wanted to visit. Image credit goes to http://www.sxc.hu/profile/Nightsrose

Highgate

You are a tapestry of death
And beauty illuminated
Your weeping angels
And ivy draped arches
Resplendent in disarray
This garden of souls
Comprised of centuries
Shall not fade from this land.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
