    History and biography

My Motherland have thousand years of history
    Probably this is why
People do not care about it
If you have just couple centuries left behind
You take history much more personally

You told me about American presidents
Like they have been your relatives or your neighbors
You tried to explain me shameful Monkey Trail
From the prospective of ordinary people

I was almost witness of more terrible things
When scientists have been fired, exiled, jailed and killed
Just because they did study Genetic
And Cybernetic that now shape our world
With all what computers bring to life
Have been condemned as a “Prostitute of Capitalism”
And taken out from the text books of any kind

Two continents, two countries two histories come across
Actually just biographies of two lonely people
And the world outside become small and not that important for me
When I am resting in the warm harbor of your arms.

The beautiful, time-tempered wisdom from your ethnic heritage shines out like a beacon in the chaos of our times. Thank you!

thought-provoking piece about the relative importance of "history" to "longevity" ... lol ... i bet we could apply this to people, as well ... someone who is 20 years old tends to take everything very personally ... but when we have 100 years of experiences, we can be a little more philosophical, but some of the urgency of life goes with that ... so many connections you've made here, insights into the modern Russia, as well as ... how each of us includes our country's "biography" as our own in some way ... very interesting write ... ty for the post! -dh

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
