Holiday Bath

Holiday Bath

(Deborah Taylor)

Candles flicker casting dancing shadows on the wall
Christmas music lightly enters from another room
Glasses filled with chilled champagne
wait for lips that will sip from them
The scent of orange ginger permeates the air
and a warm tub of bubbles awaits the pair

Chocolate dipped strawberries, enough for two
milk chocolate, deep chocolate, white chocolate
already melting in anticipation
of tongues that will caress them
She strips naked but not nearly as naked as her soul
Looks in the mirror and wonders if he knows

Easing into the warmth of the suds
kneeling, waiting, eyes closed, a permanent smile etched in her face
He enters dressed in nothing at all
A light flickers in her eyes like those of the candles
and is reflected in his own
And in this moment she knows...he knows

Like young lovers they sip the juice
Feeding one another strawberries as they feed their hunger
Intermittent kisses, soft touches and sighs
fingertips drawing designs on bubble topped skin
The water turns cool but still they stay
wrapped in each other till the bubbles fade away

Wishing Christmas was every day
