Poem Commentary

True Story,
On 9/18 @ 3am, I stopped this man from entering my home from
a side door that leads into my bedroom.
I had no time to wake anyone else up. Had I taken the time he could have had time to come in all the way.
I let out a huge ugly scream while slamming the door into his body. I figured he would get scared alone with the scream and at the same time I could wake the rest of the family with my loudness.
My husband sometimes takes too long to wake up, and I knew I just had to do what I had to do.
I was terrified my whole body was shaking, but at the same time I felt proud that I kept him out and gave him pain at the same time.
I was so scared, but I know he didn't expect such a welcome, he took off and left his bike behind for the police to take.
I pray they catch this guy, I sure would hate for him to try again.

Home Invader

It was 3:00 am, I was awaken from my slumber.
I could not see, but I heard someone near my door
and I knew my family was in danger.

Without a peep I arose from my bed and that's when I
noticed the stranger trying to enter.
I could not ignore my fear, but I knew I had to think
clear.

As the demon tried to come in further, I thought to myself,
my family he will not injure.

With a horrendous scream I released my rapture.
An enormous strength took over as I slammed the door
into his body with a force like no other.

The cowardly devil who tried to be a sly burglar, ran off in dire terror,
engulfed with pain running for cover.

I had no time to plan an attack, I had to just become the doer.

That scary night I kept out a low life home invader.

Never underestimate the power to protect from a Mother.

love it love it love it! :) once you become a mother - there is no way you'd let anything happen to your children. This is an awesome example - good for you!

This is true. A loving mother can turn into a beast to defend her children. ;) Thanks again for reading

Wow. This obviously begs the question of just what in the hell is wrong with some people, but it's also a testament to your bravery and determination. Some people would crumble in such a situation. So, bravo to you and my best wishes to you and yours. I'm glad no one was hurt except for the idiot who tried to break in to your home.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
