Hopelessness

Hopelessness

Sullen, afraid, bewildered, shattered

A prisoner of my own desolation

Drowning in a murky lake of tears

Scavenging my carcass

Life’s wake of vultures

Illuminating my existence

My solitary companion

The moon

I agree with sometimes it is not about you .If I am single or with someone I would still write love poems .I can see to people holding hands and I get inspired enough to to write a love poem of what I would say to her if I was him.I love ur work.Ur Kids have a wonderful and talented mother I can tell.

Awe.. thank you king. :) My children are all grown now. One can only hope as a parent, that their children take some of what they learned with them. :)

real sadness writes like this. can't fake it. well done but i do detect a hint of hope, maybe subliminal, but you mention the moon. the moon can be all powerful. very nice write.

Glad you liked it Crush. But just so ya know not all my poems are about me, not that I haven't personally experienced this kind of sadness years ago. I often write of things I see going on in the world or look at people as I'm out an about and write about what kind of things their behavior portrayed they may be going through. I used to tell my children growing up, that the people in the world are like the characters in the books you read. When your reading the book, seeing yourself as one of the characters allows you to understand the book better. Anyway.. I'm a babbler.. Thanks for the great review. :)

okay....cuz you have to feel real sadness to express it. it is an added gift to see happiness, sadness and confusion in the world and in people and write about it.

Way to go, cctgad! I like this shorter write that says so much. Very pretty picture of the solitary companion rising over the stormy waterscape, Well done.

Thank you lisaner :) Glad you liked it.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
