Horrible Things

Horrible Things

Horrible things are dragons with wings
and kids wearing trench coats in sultry July
Horrible things are bosses and kings
and others who's power makes good men give up
Horrible things are money and rings
and greed which becomes tantamount to your God
Horrible things are bruises and stings
and infinite pain caused by those who you've loved
Horrible things are lives not fully lived
And an old woman drowning in years of regret
Horrible things are missing the boat
and rejecting your soul-mate before you've met

Wonderful. Now I definitely have to read more of your work.

Simple. Evocative. I love it.

This is powerful, and should have a higher rate

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
