How do you see it?

How do you see it?

The world slows down
My heart beats fast
I can't believe
The times that passed.
The gun is raised
The trigger pulled
I brace for hit-
It never comes.
I glance his way
To understand
And see that I
Was no target.
The laughs we'd shared,
The love we lost,
All gone today
With one big cost;
The life of torn,
Suff'ring, little
Soul of the Earth.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
