    HOW TO STOP A SEMI-TRUCK

    July 30, 1989
    Everyone know who's king of the road;
    Those huge semi-trucks that carry the big load.
    They run across country from state to state,
    Bringing your merchandise so it won't be late.
    Now who can stop these monstrous trucks?
    I guess---"Old Smokey," with any luck'
    Deserts or mountains? No, they can't.
    So you ask what can?-----One little fire ant.

    This was written because on one of our trips, we were stopped at the Arizona line and we were found to have 1 little fire ant and we had to go back to Albuquerque, New Mexico to have the truck fumigated. It closed us down for a whole week-end and cost the company$250.00 for the fumigating. Costly little things

    Billy, thank you for your comments. Yes, I learned a lot of new things out on the road. I put them to poetry. However, that was just for a short time that we were out on the road, as my husbands true calling is as a minister of God. We were between churches at the time and Tommy was a trucker before he became a minister. I learned a lot about people out there on the road and learned that no one should be judged by what you see or sterotyped. It helped my understand poeple a whole lot better.

    To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
