HUMBLED

Come take my hand he said with a sigh,
I was startled at first by the depth of his eyes
His voice was like honey..a rich amber tone
Words oozed from his mouth hit my heart like a stone.
What have you to show for the blessings bestowed?
Did you think there was no price to pay?
Did you think you could stay on top of the game
Without ever having to play??
How many times did you give to the poor,
Or food to the hungry did feed?
Have you held a sick child that wasn't your own,
Or give shelter to someone in need?
When did you last step out of yourself
And into anothers' worn shoes?
Offer a prayer to a bent broken soul
Whose tragedies never made news?
Did you ever gain pleasure from some others pain?
Did you purposley hurt, then never explain?
I'm sorry you thought you could skate through the door
But school is still in, you must learn so much more.
So I turned in shame from the peaceful white light,
Through the tunnel of darkness I ran
The Angel of Death on the edge of my mind,
A white feather of hope in my hand.

Offer a prayer to a bent broken soul, nice line, a power prayer huh

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
