    Poem Commentary

    I wrote this in 1999, it was the first song I ever did both lyrics and music for... it's never been recorded.  I found out that the guy who was my best friend, was leaving... Without saying goodbye.  I wrote from that.

    **Hurt So Bad** (Lyrics)
    How can you go?
    But why should you stay?
    Leaving me all alone,
    And you say that,
    I never made.. you happy.

    I gave you my whole life,
    My time, my love, my pride, my heart...
    But you took it all for granted,
    Now you take my soul and walk away...

    I never knew that love could hurt so bad,
    I never thought my soul could die...
    I never knew that you'd leave me so sad,
    I never thought you would make me cry...
    And I don't know why...

    Now you must go, (you've got to go)
    You just can't stay here any longer,
    'Cause every moment you linger here,
    Every word you say,
    Breaks my heart,
    And makes me want you more...

    I thought you were for real,
    Not someone like who you've become,
    My love...
    So, if you're going to go,
    Please go now...
    'Cause I don't have the power,
    To say no...

    I never knew that love could hurt so bad,
    I never thought my soul could die...

    Watch your rhyme scheme. The thoughts are solid. Try a little more word play. I would be curious to see you depart from words like "linger." As I say with all my comments, take it or leave it, who am I?

    I like it, Keli! I definitely understand the emotions you are expressing here. I'd love to hear the actual song!!! PS Sorry I wasn't able to read/rate your stuff till now -- the past couple of days this site has been freezing up my machine every time I log in!!!
