Poem Commentary

I desire a Woman

Written on 11-9-2010              34 Lines

I desire a woman, and in more ways than one,
I desire her in a way that can create a daughter or son,
I desire to be next to her, holding hands and sharing moments, pieces of time,
I desire a woman to temporarily call mine,

I desire her touch, thoughts, face and company in my life,
I desire a woman wehther strong or in strife,
I desire a woman to hold a conversation,
To speak a language that would translate to elation,
I desire a woman, to hold in my arms,
I desire a woman to caress with my charms,

I desire a woman, to sing when I'm at my best,
I desire to look at her when she lays on me at rest,
Eyes closed because in me she has found peace,
A piece of heaven come down, her human pillow of fleece,
I desire a woman, to touch her soft skin,
And watch in awe the joy in me weld within,

I desire to feel her pretty legs and sexy toes touch me,
Because i know when that happens I will be happy,
I desire a woman to share her soul one day at a time,
Regardless if im happy, or as sour as a lime,

I desire a woman, O' I love the touch of her hair,
I could mess it all up and it flawlessly would return to its glory up there,
I desire a woman to tell me how she feels,
I desire a woman who loves stiletto high heels,

Idesire a woman who equally deisres me,
Who doesnt mind calling me her man, her papi, her baby,
I desire a woman who is not the rule or the exception,
Who wont hesitate for a moment to show me her love and affection,

I desire a woman to comfort me,
Not with a sugar coated lie, but with love and empathy,
I desire a woman in a whole lot of ways,
And hope i can grant my desire now, or one of these days.

This is an adorable poem that delivers so much from the heart... beautiful symmetry, buoyant in metaphors and style. I enjoyed reading it so much, it is so nice to know that a man could feel this way about a woman. Thank you for this delicate peek inside the truthful, passionate desire of a lovely poet's heart.

I love that you combined sentiment, humor and pure love into what is a really heartwarming compilation of words. Just one thing - I dont understand this line - "I desire a woman to temporarily call mine" as opposed to the rest of the poem which seems to ask for longevity with "her"

People think when they get with someone they own them like property, when the opposite is true. I do not own whatever woman i am with because she was never mind to begin with, as i am not owned by her. We are but shadows in the sun on earth so when we are together it is temporary and so that is the root of why i say temporarily call my own. We are borrowing each other, but in the process may share an infinite love.

Oh but i dont believe love is not such my friend, most ppl set out to find their lover just to have a good sense of 'belonging and harmony' - something i dont believe can be temporary. sure things happen and ppl go their separate ways sometimes but a love like that cannot die, just forgotten maybe. I think i understand what ur getting at tho, i just think temporary is too strong of a word. As for when ppl think they own their partner like property, i think that can be due to a variety of common lover quarrels not always associated with their initial deepest feelings for each other

What you find strong i find powerful. There is a reason why I say temporary. It sends a message that the bottom line is that regardless of our relationship or what i desire to happen we are free spirits. It goes along the lines (thought not exactly) of I love you, but i dont need you, or I desire you in my life, but will do just fine without you. I am curious as to why you felt it was too strong a word?

well if u explain it that way i could understand, i just couldnt sense that vibe throughout the rest of the poem, but then again everyone interprets in their own way. thats why i still dubbed it a good poem
