    I Don't Want To Be

Thank you for showing me the kind of person I never want to be.
Thank you for showing me the kind of person im never going to marry.
Thank you for making mom leave.
Thank you for making us grieve.
    I know you didn't try,
To be an influence on my life.
    Thank you for your apathy.
It has given me the ability,
To deal with all the atrocious things you made me believe.
Thank you for each absurd scream that was heard.
Thank you for each time you choose to leave a bruise.
Thank you for the chaos that never seemed to cease.
Thank you for the fear that spread like a disease.
Thank you for all the burden you left.
Now I know for certain im me,
Because of what I don't want to be.
Thank you for each time you abondoned me.
Thank you for making me feel alienated.
Thank you for making me feel hated.
    I'm not being sarcastic.
I am thankful for all the pain we endured everyday.
Now I know for certain i'm me,
Because of what I don't want to be.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
