I Had a Dream

I had a dream…

A younger girl of 10 or so, I stood in a vast field of wheat. The sun was warm as my hair danced in the breeze and I was in bare feet.

A familiar memory locked into my mind of childhood days so free
The girl that was standing in that golden field is still the inner me.

Trusting all that surrounded me, believing that good ruled the world. Now that I am a woman, I still feel the same as that girl.

All though the world seems to reflect of some evil it’s not the world which is bad. It’s the sin and sinners creating the strife, when they trade need for greed, lust for love and lose all that they once had.

Simplicity is still what that young girl felt as she stood bare foot in that field. No mortgage to pay, no appointment to keep, or expectations the future might yield.

Why can’t this nation step back for a moment and look back to see history unfold? The bond of a family was not in its wealth, the integrity of a business was gold.

The young girl may be naïve in a sense, but her heart brings her back to today. I still trust in mankind and believe in my heart that love and conscience will always lead the way.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
