I Miss Him

As each night pases
I find it harder to sleep
I sit up late rat night
Trying to drowned out my memories
Of the time I spent with him
Emerising myself in my books

It isn't working!
Even in my sacred place
My novels
Thoughts of him invade my head

Night after night
As I sit alone
THinking of him
I wonder if he ever thinks of me

Missing me as much as I miss him
His laughter and humer
His wit and charm
His caress that brings my body alive

I miss al of these things
But most of all I just miss Him
The feeling of belonging only he can give me
I miss his arms
Keeping me safe

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
