I Often Wonder

I often wonder if life had a sound, what would it be?

Precious like a child’s laughter, which I’m hearing less of nowadays?

Or angry like an explosion, drowning out the soft tinkle of the child’s laugh?

I often wonder if life had color, what would it be?

Refreshing and mystical like the blue sky above?

Or deep and sinful like the red seas flooding what lies beneath that darkening blue?

I often wonder if life had a feeling, what would it be?

Cool like the air that fills my lungs?

Or hot like the fire that fills the fields?

I often wonder if life had a purpose, what would it be?

To live it to the fullest with the people around us; growing together and loving each other?

Or to live a life full of fighting for our own; growing apart and hating each other.

I often wonder if life had no war, what would it be like?

Precious, refreshing, mystical, cool, loving and close like the Utopia that is too far away to achieve?

Or angry, sinful, hot, painful and hatful like the life it is now, because we cannot bring back the lives we took, or mend the families we shredded.

I often wonder if life had a sound, what would it be?

Precious like a child’s laughter, which I’m hearing less of nowadays?

Or angry like an explosion, drowning out the soft tinkle of the child’s laugh?

Nicely done - good use of imagery, and I like the message as well - 10 from me

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
