I Think

I Think

As I lay here tonight
I think of my life
And I feel reality bite
It cuts at me like a knife
I think of all the things I should have done
And all of the things I should have said
I think of our day in the sun
But before I knew it, it was dead
Now I have to think of the future
But all I can think of is you
I know my heart is pure
And soon I will know what to do

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
