    I Wanted To Be

I wanted to be, so much larger than I am.
I wanted to skim the skies.
I wanted to reach beyond the life that was,
    Regardless of the whys.

I wanted to help, and not to hurt.
    To build and not destroy.
To teach my kids that love is real
And there's a place for joy.

I wanted to be, God I wanted to be,
    A man above all men.
But I fell so short, so very short,
    After trying again and again.

Yet all these things I wanted to be,
I just might have a shot.
If I just start dealing with who I am,
    Instead of who I'm not.

Wow! I could really relate to this one. In line with a poem I did last year called "Invisible"

IGood poem- lots of wisdom there! I enjoyed reading it.
