I WAS TAKEN

Poem Commentary

I wrote this poem for all the parents of missing children, whom my heart will be with forever. I cannot imagine the pain they must endure with this tragedy. I love each of my five children (no matter what I jokingly tell them) and I don't know what I would do without them.

I WAS TAKEN

I was taken.

Do you know me, or my family?

have you ever seen me before?

My mother took her eyes off of me,

for just a second when we were at the store.

I was taken.

I need your help to get back home,

because someone stole me away.

My mother must be sad by now,

‘Cause I been away for more than a day,

I was taken.

They wanted a child of their own,

but that didn’t work, so they took me.

I’m missing my family I know they’re missing me,

please help me reunite with my family.

I was taken.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
