    I Wear a Mask

    I wear a mask when I’m happy

    I wear a mask when I’m sad

    I wear a mask when I’m pissed off

    I wear a mask when I’m tired

     

    I wear it to protect me

    From the perfection that

    You’ve wanted me since I was a little girl,

    The perfection that no matter

    How hard I try I can not give you

     

    I wear it to feel like

    I’m somebody, when I am

    NOBODY

    I wear it to feel safe

    I wear it to feel loved

     

    I’ve always worn it,

    And I always will

    It's my curse,
    For not being perfect....
    LIKE YOU

    :)) So true. Unfortunately as we grow up we become one with the mask. Cruel but true ("I wear it to feel safe / I wear it to feel loved") It is cruel because love has nothing to do with "masks" and still that's what most of us call "love"... Well said!

    Thanx! You wanna know something kina sad I wrote this when I 13. Even then I knew how fake people could be ....How fake I could be. But I'm glad you like it.

    I think real masks are sexy, if ya know what I mean, but I like to wear the true mask of self, it appears more royal, good write.

    Thanx, This is the first time in years I havn't worn any mask. This is the first time I'm just being raw & not giving a damn who around me likes it.

    Truth in writing-I like to call this!!-I believe we all wear the mask thing, from time to time.The real challenge is knowing when to take it off-and just breathe...Now then,this piece is to the point,no b.s writing!-Thats what writing is all about to me.Some people claim eyes are the windows to the soul.-I think for a writer-its pencil,and paper!-Our losses and our deepest passions and fears,just kind of fall out of us somehow into words!-Maybe its because of our damn masks,LOL!-Any hoot,YOU can bring it to the table!-Glad your back,glad to meet you.Honored to read you.-

    You know I never thought of that, pen & paper being a window to my soul--- I guess it is , esp. seeing how sometimes I feel like their the only ones who truley listen. & thanx
