    i wonder
    i wonder what would have been
    if you would be around today
    17 years not knowing you
    17 years of wonder
    17 birthdays that you missed
    and yet i still wonder
    wonder what you'd be like
    would you love as they do?
    would you hold me as i cried?
    would you be proud of who i am?
    all i have is a faded picture,
    a memory as cloudy as the Washington sky
    did you love me as i hope
    or did you hate me as they say
    17 years of wonder
    17 years of never knowing
    no matter how much i wonder
    i will never know
    for my answers died over 17 years ago
    but no matter what my heart still says
    i wonder
