I Won't Bother You No More

I come to you tired, empty, and alone
God’s voice cracked the day you called home
    Senior executives gather around
Making decisions, laying off who grounds to be
    Tired, empty, and alone

I missed the point when you told me
    You didn’t love me anymore
    It’s a problem to fix,
One which no one can score

Read this to him, I know that’s what you’ll do
Tell him I’m crazy, but Lord knows
What I would do for you.
What would do for you ?

I’ll tell you what you don’t want,
I’ll tell you what you don’t need ,
You need someone to compliment your perfect white teeth,
You need someone who will hold
And worship you by your own set of beliefs,
    Take his word.
    Take his hand.
The books on your shelf, they’re now at your demand
He’s obviously the one that beat out the man
Who comes to you tired, empty, and in defeat

I reached out my hand and all I got was a sore
Slap on the wrist telling me what not to love anymore
You know you understand love so much more than I do
Then tell me why the bleeding
Hasn’t stopped as fast as it should

What a cliché metaphor, but else will do ?
You know you have got so much more experience than I do
So then tell me why I lost, I gave you everything I could
And why you fly along the skyline,
So high up from a couple of years,
And tell me why you forgot all the people
    That brought you there

I come all this way to tell you that you have been set free
I wont bother you no more
But you will always bother me

With every night you stray away from me
    In my sleep,
    In my head,
With every day you get farther,
The more I wish I was dead
I honestly pray to you not the Lord when I go bed
A year to the day we painted the town red.

Wonderfully written and something that can be understood by some and completely missed by others. The emotional elements of the poem are conveyed well and I enjoy your word choice; to be the person in the relationship that sees and feels the gap between you growing everyday, even after, is a painful thing.

well written feelings that are way beyond your years. I read this and pictured you to be 35 or 40 and then to read that you are only 19....left me impressed to say the least.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
