    If I Saw You Tomorrow

    If I saw you tomorrow
    Would you remember
    Those nights in the basement?
This displacement is all but manifest
    Difficult to swallow at best.
I close my eyes to visualize
Stopping just short of your smile
All the while struggling to recollect
How the corners of your lips connect
Perfect, like a disease how they infect
    An instrument of happiness
    I was impressed
At how your spirit had progressed
A zest for life despite its strife
Your words of wisdom sliced like a knife
In my mind that was in disrepair
To your magic although tragic I was aware
The affair I endured was unnecessary in nature
My spiritual stature shrunk and imploded
Until your wisdom had debunked and reloaded
The shattering of ego allowed for rebirth
For through the suffering I saw my self worth
And I came to realize I am not one with her:
The Demona of my past I had surpassed
One last sigh passed by her tongue through her lips
And was extinguished as my own persona had eclipsed
For my destiny would not allow my memories
To get the best of me
Here in this silent place I can embrace
And wash the disguise away from my face
As I reminisce in bliss your wisdom and grace
Your words have echoed through space and time
I find myself repeating them in rhyme
Over and over again in my mind
For every syllable uttered clears my mind of the clutter
And peace and serenity are its replacements
As I am slowly carried by memories
To those nights with my friend in the basement.

i love this poem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it reminds me of days when i was young, the times we hind and seek in the yards of the neighbor hood. the basement at our friends house. many memories are ghoslty hanging there to this day. and probably forever. thank you

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
