    This is a poem about a man who realizes that commitment can be a wonderful thing. If you wait to long... the opportunity may be lost.

    If Your Love Could See Me Now

     You watched me walk away
    Crying silently by the door
    So many questions left unanswered
    From our fight the night before

    We had a fight about marriage
    You had wanted to take my hand
    I would have stayed and worked it out
    Had I been a stronger man

    I have always been the restless kind
    Never stayed in love to long
    One word of commitment spoken
    And by morning I was gone

    Now in this time spent by myself
    I have come to realize
    The part of you I miss the most
    Is the love thats in your eyes

    So honey I'm asking for a second chance
    To give you what you need
    And if you open your heart again
    You will see a change in me

    I'll take your hand in my hand
    And pledge those solemn vows
    I'll place that ring upon your finger
    If your love could see me now

    This poem is smoothly crafted and powerfully poignant. It gets 10m from me. Yet the story is so smoothly conceived & executed, I'd wonder how long this kind of sentiment could hold you & your lover together, over the long-haul.
