    Illumination

    the sun came out
    from behind dark clouds
just for a minute or two
unveiling things that were always there,
    things that I never knew.

    now in the dark
    of glowering skies
    sunlight once again grows dim
    unfortunate glimpse of clarity
    your pretty lies unspin

    day after day
    of unending rain
I've spent hiding in my bed
    attempting to block the sunlight
    blanket over my head

    but soon or late
    that old sun will shine
and the truth will be revealed
the clouding of my mind undone
    and soul begun to heal

    so when the sun
    shows his face again
shining his warmth down on me
the sirens will call and I will go
    so far away from thee

It's amazing how few people ever find a way to express raw emotion, whatever medium they choose to employ. So many aspiring poets could learn valuable lessons from you, as I'm learning a few myself...perfect 10.

I really like this poem, it sounds like a relationship where someone seems nice at first, clouding your mind with false hope and then bam you want out when you see the true personality. Great images.

So many points of view and so true . I can related in so many ways. I have hope of the sun to shine and never to be hid. I wish i could bit a lid on the darkness that creeps ,trying to seep into the truth.

Could this be the moment of clarity in a bad relationship? hmmmm that is how I relate to it. Let the sun shine in! Interesting meter.

... both versions work. keep them both..(if a poem wasnt finished till the poet was happy with it , there would be a lot less poetry, and a lot fewrer writers

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
