I'm Just A Cloud To You

As she looked into the stars that night,
She realized that, with all her might,
She had absolutely no clue why
There was the earth and stars and sky.

What was the meaning behind all of this?
Was it just utter romantic bliss?
A place for Aphrodite to come, not alone,
Where men would serenade her on her throne?

Is it for people like you and me,
A place to come be all we can be?
A place for women, a place for men,
But if they hadn't met, what then?

What would be on this crazy earth now?
Just ducks and chickens and rabbits and cows?
Then we wouldn't have met, you and I,
The thought of that makes my silly head sigh.

But you were meant to be here, free,
Tall as trees with eyes like the sea.
You were supposed to come roam around,
Your feet always moving on this soft ground.

I guess that makes me a cloud in the sky,
I can't touch you, look in your eyes,
Because I'm so very far away from you,
After all, I'm just a cloud you look right through.

Very briskly moving words of inspiration across the page well put great poem.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
