Poem Commentary

Helios said that the poem seemed unfinished and I think he was right. So here is what I would have liked to have added, had I been able at the time. With much thanks for persuading me to give it a go! A revision of "Where the Laburnum blossoms fall".

In a courtyard of ages

In the garden of my life,

Where the laburnum blossoms fall,

Where the gold of the spring sun glows,

Where jasmine perfume wanders in nature’s hall,

There you shall find us, my love and I,

Entwined betwixt the towering oak,

And the delicate Babylonian tower,

Muttering in strange tongues, of strange lands.

We met as oft in legend, the hero and heroine do,

In a time, in a place, where true love has no court,

Where we were to be condemned and denied,

Where truth was the justice of future days.

It was an age past hence,

When at last we were free to be,

Together in joyous self fulfillment,

And blessed unity.

Superb poem!////I particularly amaze by this line: We met as oft in legend, the hero and heroine do, In a time, in a place, where true love has no court, Where we were to be condemned and denied,..wow Where truth was the justice of future days.

Thank you so very much for your kind review! I very much enjoyed writing it, the last three stanzas were added to an original poem. Narrator.

I thank-you very much for reading my simple suggestion and adding such beauty to the courtyard of Nebuchadnezzar. As I have commented many times on the dreamy quality of poetry verus the strict realism of life... I feel your verses transcends my suggestion and brings peace [ "blessed unity"] to all. Thank-you for sharing. Helios
