in-between state

in-between state

Having your eyes closed is just a variaton on consciousness.

Feeling your way around in the dark is good for your soul.

I've been very good to my soul lately;

  it's pitch black in here.

The in-between state, both asleep and awake -

is where the best ideas are held,

where reality and fantasy meld,

where magic creates on itself,

without form, without face, without help.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
