In Need

I dare not look forward; I can't see beyond the rain.

I only forever hear the howling of my pain.

 As Love rushes by me, not finding an end;

So cruel and unforgiving, an empty-hearted friend.

Did I stand too long in the darkness, waiting for the light?

Did I lose myself willingly to the deepness of the night?

Will you take me by the hand, dare show me the way

to the dawn of eternal Hope, the Sunrise of a new day?

 As the Phoenix surely rises, so can my Soul be free.

My mentor and my teacher, only you can help this be.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
