    In The Cold

    Waking up in the cold
No one should go it alone
An empty house is not a home
This I've come to know, this I've come to know

But here is where I find myself
Here is where my turns have led
Here is where I find myself again

    Waking up in the cold
No one should go it alone
An empty house is not a home
This I've come to know, this I've come to know

Here is where I find myself
Alone is home as I can see
The choices we make dictate the life we lead

And now I'm waking up in the cold
When no one should go it alone
This empty house is not a home
This I've come to know, this I've come to know

Matt, I also notice the chanting as mentioned by Eyes- That makes me think this is a song. It sounds like a wailin' guitar, with a windy desert type background to me. Good write!

Ahhh Matt... Another one of your mind numbing pieces in which I feel like I too am traveling back to the same alone-ness with you. You have a way transporting the reader into the world of your words. The chant-like quality of this kept me focused on the point, without any extra thoughts to lead me down other thought paths. Wonderful writing my friend! 10!

well dont feel alone because i feel the same and you know experience has showed me that being alone inside my own empty non existant home where the demons and injustice roam is sometimes better then having what you need to make a home...

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
