    IN THE DARKNESS


    IN THE DARKNESS THAT SURROUNDS ME, HIDES THE TREACHEROUS CONSEQUENCE OF WHAT WAS ONCE US.
    LURKING IN GLOOM, WAITING TO CONSUME ANY HOPES OF LOVE IN BLOOM. READY TO SEVER WHAT WE SHARED FOREVER. TO ALLOW US TO CORRECT THE EFFECT OF OUR NEGLECT, NEVER.
    IN THE SHADOWS OF DECEIT, IS A PATH OF WRATH YOU WILL SURELY MEET. MIDST THE HAZE MY ABANDONED HEART REPLAYS THE DAYS OF CRAZE WITHOUT REMORSE HE CONTINUES ON AND BETRAYS,  AN ILL HEART IS WHAT HE DISPLAYS.
    FROM THE LIGHT I TAKE FLIGHT, KEPT FROM SIGHT, FOR FEAR I MIGHT INVITE FALSE DELIGHT.
    IN THE DIM I CHOOSE TO STAY, HERE WITH HIM TO BATTLE ANOTHER DAY.

    I can see you floating on the surface of a deep pool, gently upon the water, and suddenly diving down to swim within your heart and mind to find such heavy inspiration. This poem holds so much weight, Sandy...I can only imagine the burden you carry. I can only offer encouragement and a lantern to light your way through the murky blackness. What could I possibly say to do justice to this poem? I know I say it often, but it's true, my lady. You stand a Mistress of Words, a Goddess of Language, daring any who find themselves awash in your fragrance to stop and wander through your flowerbed, and fall in love with poetry all over again. I could go on, but words are not nearly enough, I fear...another 10, as always.

    Rhymes were right on point. I like how this poem dances to its own rhythm. Truly individual. I too feel more honest in dark. My only quesion is, the -Him- you refer to at the end, is it a man you speak of? or are you refferring to darkness itself?
