    In The Open

    You lived your life in the open,

    You lived it in the wild.

    So they saw you as an animal -

    You were never a man, a brother, child.


    You lived your life in the limelight,

    You lived there honestly.

    But every fame has its price,

    And so you were never truly free.


    You lived your life in the open,

    But you were always so alone -

    You loved, but no one ever knew,

    They thought your heart was stone.


    It's a cold life in the open,

    An emotionless prison for your heart.

    You thought you were free, but you soon found

    They had caged you from the start.


    I wish to join you in the open,

    That we both may find some peace.

    I'll save you from their judgement and pain -

    Let me be your release.
