    Ineluctable

Evanescent days passing by like the blink of an eye
Our time cannot last; we’re coming to pass
But while we remain, from hope we’ll refrain
Standing for pride, staying for lies
Forever we cannot be, too much we’ve seen
The evil in the world always, time to go our separate ways

    Ineluctable endings we cannot avoid
No more time on this earth we could possibly enjoy
We know evil and lies, injustice and pride
Death and destruction yet to come
We’ll be here; we’re its target number one
For all of us, life is done

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
