Poem Commentary

This is a poem about Greed and how it has changed the way we view the self worth of ourselves and those around us. Money is not the only gain for selfish motives. All decisions we make have a consequence for ourselves and those around us. It is (in my opinion) in that moment when we forsake all else and save ourselves, not for self preservation but for selfish gain, that we have become greedy. Too often when people can't beat 'em they join 'em. So this process becomes familiar and repeated.

Greed is being obsessively in need!
It is like and endless goal we strive to achieve.
It has proceeded from our Ancestors - or so I believe.
A Family Curse so to say passed on to you and me.
It's traveled far and wide, becomming wise beyond our minds.
It cares not about any religion or culture, race, age, gender, or creed.
Diverstiy merely gives it artistic ways to commit its crime in our Family Tree.
Deceiving us with riches beyond imagination.
Bringing us momentary fame - resulting in blame, shame, and pain.
It has shown how much it has grown Proud through its endless Reign.
The end is destruction - for ourselves, enemies, and loved ones.
