    • Learning that deliverance doesn't come without a birthing shroud...

    Intensity

    I recall ---
You are a full head taller
    than any average individual;
    Even moreso over me,
    But ---
    I'm trying to remember
    the feel of your height.

    For as much intensity
as there was for us, then,
We were rarely ever close enough
That I could look up into your eyes
And see the expression of bittersweet,
    untimely love...

    Perhaps from across the room,
    Or,
    Often sitting together,
face to face, eye to eye,
    Hearts sharing, spirits connection
    minds entwining,
Yet ever so elusive the opportunity
    To stand --- under you,
    Dwarfed.... grasped --- crushed,
    Against that very length...

    Never lost,
    The mere moments of passion
    Shared in the breath drawn
    just before the fall
    Into life ---
    Seperate and apart,
    The inevitable distance thereof
    --- a lifetime.

And of all the loves that entered in,
Intensity was left to walk within
    Those caverns we created -
    Not lost... not found,
    ---unfilled, yet bound
By what no other had to give...

    And now,
    That silken voice speaks softly
from the shadows of the past.
    Only softly ---
    And the catacombs just
    open up .... offer up
    It's very echo in resonation
    Moving ---
    Quickly along the chords
    of that connection,
    Rushing, now,
    To Intensity ---
    Rising!
    Standing, now,
    To embrace the in-drawn breath
    Of a door -
    thrust open!

Call me vacuus and shallow, I just wondered how tall you were..... I think it primal that woman hopes to love a man she can always look up to as guardian of her heart.

MSV, from my perspective this is yet another classic, wonderfully written poem of spiritually epic proportions. In reading this poem, I feel like a saint of God that has lived, died, and been called in the first rapture of the Church - where the dead in Christ shall rise first. Terrifically written... Superbly told... Humbly read. Thanks for sharing. 10

Very captivating and the symbolism of height of head possibly shadowing a sacred love that is wished for intently.

I find your style mesmerizing in that it captures the reader as in a vice and carries him or her forward with or without thier permission.

Interesting you would say that, Hampton, as one of the biggest compliments I feel I can receive is that someone sees the "story" in what I write. Thank you.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
