Poem Commentary

Jean is a cancer patient and this poem represents her fathers feeling he wants to express to her.

Jean

My Daughter,
how beautiful you are.I see you through a fathers eyes.
When I think of you my little girl;
I see as the the first time I held you.
The Lord reached down
to a unworthy soul
and gave him a perfect gift.
Jean,
I want to walk with you.
It is a lovely spring day.
I am holding you,
as we smell the sweet flowers,
I can feel the warmth of the sun on our faces.
We smile,
for I am holding  you.
It seems my daughter,
all the sorrows of the world drift away.
a father hurts so deep from the heart,
when he can not make the pain go away.
But, I have learned, I may not be able to solve the pain,
that is for the Lord.
Although I am there to hold you.
And we can walk,
for never-ending spring days
