    John 14:27

    Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.  John 14:27

    As time rolls on
    with quickening gait-
    the soul grows weary
    and fatigued.
    The waters flow
    in the river of life;
    steady yet without direction.
    "Peace I leave with you,"
    spoke he these words,
    comfort among this stretch of road.
    Yet on all sides
    voices tell you,
    "disclaim this falseness,
    cast the deceit aside!
    There is no God,
    it is nothing more than lies!"
    What has this world to give you
    to make you more complete-
    that the words of our savior:
    a gift of eternal peace.
    He gives to you,
    not as this world gives;
    but with honest,pure love.
    Trouble melts away,
    your soul encloses;
    it is made whole.
    God has lifted
    from your shoulders
    this heavy load.

    Glad to hear there is still a place to take refuge and the promise of feelings of peace. It is obvious from the tortured flight of this world that people including me have lost all perspective. All perspective why we were created and in the image and likeness of God. Thank you for reminding me. Yep, we are all on this same journey but too many have eaten of the forbidden fruit: power. Need I say more?

    Indeed. The good book hitting harder than a double edged blade. Wisdom for the hungry. Understanding for the weary. This poem was as beautiful as it's italic font. Thank you for the inspiration this day.

    Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
