John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27As time rolls on
with quickening gait-
the soul grows weary
and fatigued.
The waters flow
in the river of life;
steady yet without direction.
"Peace I leave with you,"
spoke he these words,
comfort among this stretch of road.
Yet on all sides
voices tell you,
"disclaim this falseness,
cast the deceit aside!
There is no God,
it is nothing more than lies!"
What has this world to give you
to make you more complete-
that the words of our savior:
a gift of eternal peace.
He gives to you,
not as this world gives;
but with honest,pure love.
Trouble melts away,
your soul encloses;
it is made whole.
God has lifted
from your shoulders
this heavy load.
