  • Past the ocean, and into the clouds, we sail into the sun...

June 21, 2010, 1:34 AM

What limits us today?
Is it the sky, the oceans, or even our jobs?
No.
It is our fear.
Not our fears of spiders or heights,
But our fears of thinking differently than others.
The fear of rejection amongst a thousand copies.
How we can go with the flow, and never be wrong,
Yet never be right.
And when we try to be different,
To be unique,
Show our true selves,
We are turned upon.
Trashed,
Banished,
Outcasts of the world,
All for speaking our minds,
And thinking for ourselves.
Our minds were once ours,
To think freely and openly,
To set our own limits,
Our morals,
To live as we saw fit,
As individuals.
But now is not the case.
We are taught to think for the better of the whole,
Before ourselves.
And we give in,
For our fear of rejection,
Much greater than our fear of spiders or heights,
Controls us for now.
Let us regain ourselves,
Our freedom of speech,
Our right to think differently.
Let us regain our minds,
Our selves...

Dude. That's all I could think of this one. So right. And also inspiring. I like this one a lot. A good reminder.

'We are taught to think for the better of the whole, Before ourselves.' I don't think that's the case at all. So many people surround me that I know think of themselves more than anybody else. Maybe it's politically correct to think of other people first, but very few people that I know are actually that considerate at their core. It isn't being taught, merely pressured. Nice my friend, I do like it

Very Nicely Said! :) I so agree with your point of view .. Time for us to be strong as individuals and society as a whole. To hell with being politically correct .. we must learn to once again live. Great job! :) Ken

you have the best way of showing how you feel....you put your own emotion into what you write...not just what you like to write but you are what you write...

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
