Just Me

Just Me

I thought I knew myself
Strong willed and kind
I thought myself gentle
Full of purpose of mind

I thought I knew the person
That I am deep inside
Yet others see me differently
Seeing only what's outside

If underneath the surface
They look deeply past the shell
They would find a softer me
One that's wanting to be held

Strength is said a virtue
But I believe that strength
is hiding something else
that should be studied at great length

So when they find my inner self
With open eyes and really see
They'll look at me so differently
They'll see the real me.

Oh how well said- it could have been written for many of us as we catch the vibes of others. Who ever said '1st. impressions' are what we should go on-quite mistaken. It takes many times, and you often find out how wrong you were with that '1st. impression!' A true and great write!

I really like this one. Nice flow and ending. The second to last stanza (strength is a virtue...) doesn't flow as nice as the rest. Please read some of mine. :)

Again, just filled with so much positive light-energy. You have a unique voice.

You have a way of making me feel like I know what I'm talking about. It's nice to see it from someone else's perspective. Thanks Dahlusion and thank you for the nice compliment.

Seems society is judgmental and unkind in looking for the depth in a person. Judged by looks and wealth rather than the individual. But there are a few that will look past the book's cover and these are the one's with qualities that is worth calling your friends.

Thank you Gentle T. Truer words were never spoken. I find these people to be so rare but well worth the friendship. I find the iner qualities much more appealing. Welcome to my friends list.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
