Keepers Of The Night

Poem Commentary

After midnight, when the lights go out. The keepers of the night cast their shadows upon an unsuspecting world. Once again Regina 2 and I have teamed up to bring you glimpse into the twilight zone.

Keepers Of The Night

We come alive after light
As others sleep and dream
We are the keepers of the night
Nocturnal much like wolves
Or cats that hunt after dark
We keep vigil over each other
Protecting our pack from intruders
Offering comfort on lonely nights
In the restless hours before the dawn
While peaceful slumber eludes us
We share the stories of our broken hearts
And relive our shattered dreams
Through the frosted window of our minds
We look back on a simplier time
When innocense unmolested
Was the cornerstone of our youth
As colors light the morning sky
We yearn for restful sleep
Another night we have shared
Between our lonely hearts

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
