    la. night

the lazy quiet of the night --broken by the singing of countless frogs--in concerted unison cry-we are here we are alive--spanish moss drapes waters edge--haven for sinister snake--who peers at the world thru beady eyes--and exhibits a soul as cold as ice--cypress reach to silvered moon---as if to escape earth below--while  translucent clouds march omniously thru the sky--a scream rends the night--the bayou tenses with fright--natures issue satisfied---the chilling moan of an owl  signals an end to the quiet---the frogs sing we are here we are alive--a shiver runs down my spine--reminding me i'm a stranger in this paradise --i turn to seek the light---knowing i'll never forget this Louisiana night
